The Spirit of the Gift of Discernment
“…to another the ability to distinguish between spirits…”
(1 Corinthians 12:10)
The “Gift of discerning Spirits “or distinguishing or differentiating between spirits is to be used in the Church and is given for the protection of individual Christians and the Church and is given for the protection of individual Christians and the Church. We are engaged in spiritual warfare and enemy often comes disguised as “false prophets,” “wolves in sheep’s clothing,” “angels of light,” “who shows signs and wonders, to lead astray, if possible, even the elect” (Matthew 24:24)
Those with the gifts are “spiritual policemen” equipped with a “spiritual x-ray vision” by which they can identify the enemy (the devil or evil spirits who try to attack us and disrupt our worship. Some with the gift have visual discernment, some audio discernment, and others have Scriptural discernment.
Whenever the enemy gets involved in a church, there will be Christians who fall for the deception, which often appears as a “good, but non-biblical spiritual experience” that will stealthily draw them away from Jesus. Those with the gift have a responsibility to inform the church’s pastor or leadership about what they discern so they can deal with it.
Prayer
Holy Spirit, if You give me this gift, please give me the courage to use it.
